MEET THE CONFERENCE SPEAKERS

NIINA ÄIKÄS
Head of Baltic Division in SEB
Niina Äikäs is currently Head of Baltic Division in SEB and member of the SEB group’s executive committee. Niina has a solid long and impressive background in banking and financing, including client relationship management, risk management and corporate finance. Prior moving to Stockholm and taking her current assignment, Niina has held various positions within SEB, including Country head in Shanghai for 3.5- years, Head of corporate banking in Finland and Client Executive in SEB Helsinki covering large multinational corporates. Before joining SEB Niina worked 10 years for Citigroup in their Corporate Banking division. She has graduated from Helsinki University of Technology and has Msc. in engineering. As her extra curriculum activities, she is passionate to foster diversity and mentor young talents.
NERIJUS MAČIULIS
Swedbank
Nerijus Mačiulis is deputy group chief economist, head of Baltic macro research, Swedbank. Nerijus Mačiulis has PhD from ISM University of Management and Economics and has been teaching at ISM since 2005. Nerijus Mačiulis participated in the internship at Swiss Institute of Banking. He taught courses in economics and finance at universities of Switzerland, Mexico, France and Austria. Since 2010 Nerijus works at Swedbank as chief economist.
INGER BUXTON
H.E. Ambassador of Sweden
H.E. Inger Buxton is the current Ambassador of Sweden to the Republic of Lithuania. She has held that office since September 2020. Prior to that, Ms Buxton served as Deputy Director-General and Acting Head of Department for Global Agenda Department at Ministry for Foreign Affairs. She is also the former chairperson of the ESDC Steering Committee and the Political Military Group in the Council of the European Union during the Swedish Presidency in 2009 and served as the Swedish representative in those groups in 2008-2010.
SIMONAS KRĖPŠTA
Member of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania
Simonas Krėpšta started his professional career in one of Lithuania’s commercial banks in 2006. In 2008–2019, he worked at the Bank of Lithuania – having started his career there as Economist at the Financial Stability Division, he later held senior positions as Head of the Macroprudential Policy Division of the Financial Stability Department and Director of the Financial Stability Department. For the last couple of years, he chaired the Economic and Social Policy Group of the presidential office, which coordinates economic, financial, innovation, health and social policy issues. Simonas Krėpšta holds an International Executive MBA from the Baltic Management Institute (BMI) as well as Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics (Finance and Banking) from Vytautas Magnus University. As Member of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania, he is in charge of the field of supervision.
EIVILĖ ČIPKUTĖ
Lithuanian Banking Association
Eivilė Čipkutė is the President of the Lithuanian Banking Association from 2020.Economist dr. Eivilė Čipkutė has served as a senior advisor to the Executive Director of the Nordic and Baltic Countries at World Bank's Headquarters and as a senior policy advisor at the European Investment Fund office in Brussels, Belgium. She has also worked at the Lithuanian Ministry of Finance, was the board member and chairperson of several state-owned companies.
VAIDA MARKEVIČIENĖ
Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania
Vaida Markevičienė currently holds the position of the Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania. In this position V. Markevičienė is responsible for the areas of the European Union investments; international financial assistance; financial market policy; National Fund; Municipal Financial Affairs Group.In 2019-2020 she was the advisor to the President of the Republic of Lithuania for economics and innovations. From 2014 to 2019 Ms V. Česnulevičiūtė worked for the Bank of Lithuania in various leading positions. In October 2018 – May 2019 she underwent a traineeship at the European Central Bank. From 2009 to 2016 she worked for the law firm Eversheds Saladžius and the Financial Mechanism Office of the European Free Trade Association.
MAŽVYDAS ŠILEIKA
Linas Agro Group
Mažvydas Šileika for the last 3 years is heading Linas Agro Group financial management as Chief Financial Officer and as member of the board. Previously spent almost 7 years in SEB bank within corporate banking division occupying various positions, whereas last position was heading Baltic Debt Capital Markets business. Mažvydas graduated MSc in Shipping, Trade & Finance from Bayes Business School.
ALMANTAS LEIKA
General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania
Brigadier General Almantas Leika has been appointed as the Commandant of General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania since September 2022. During his career, General Leika commanded Grand Duke Algirdas Mechanized Infantry Battalion of the IRON WOLF Brigade and commanded the Lithuanian-led Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) in Afghanistan during the NATO International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) operation. General Leika is awarded the Presidential level awards of the Officer Cross of the Vytis Order, Medal of the Vytis Order, Presidential Medal for Volunteers, and Presidential Medal for the Fight against the Soviet Aggression in 1991. General Leika is the recipient of NATO medals for NATO operations in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Afghanistan.

SUPER HOW?
Marius Jurgilas is SVP for Research and Innovations @SUPER HOW? - visionary research and development (R&D) company. For almost ten years Mr. Marius Jurgilas was holding a position of the Board Member of the Bank of Lithuania. He was also a member of the Eurosystem High-Level Task Force on Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) and a Chair of the BIS Innovation Network Working Group on CBDC. During the tenure of Mr. Jurgilas, Lithuania has emerged as a top jurisdiction for fintech companies within the EU under the leadership of the Bank of Lithuania, forging his reputation as a leading thinker on the future of banking. Prior to joining the Bank of Lithuania, Mr. Jurgilas worked as Economist at Norges Bank and the Bank of England, a researcher at the European Central Bank, and gained academic experience in the US.

Uldis Apsitis is experienced IT manager worked in various roles within financial industry for the past 20 years as project manager, consultant to fintech startups and CIO in insurance company. Now leading financial industry projects delivery as FS Portfolio Delivery Lead within Accenture Baltics.

Institutions and International Corporates at SEB bank Akvilė Skiparė is an experienced banking professional. Over the past 16 years, she has been holding various Baltic leadership positions in corporate banking, including client relationship management departments with large international clients, financial institutions and cash management product sales. Vilius Girkontas is Country Lead for Lithuania at Nordic Investment Bank, overseeing lending operations in various public and private sectors.By representing Infrastructure/Transport sector unit, Vilius is also covering lending activities in the other Baltic countries – Latvia and Estonia.Vilius has 22 years of experience in the banking sector, working with wide range of customers - large corporates, mid-caps, States, and municipalities. Before joining Nordic Investment Bank in 2008, Vilius held various positions in the Lithuanian commercial banks.Vilius has Executive MBA degree in Finance from Hanken School of Economics, Finland.
ARMINTA SALADŽIENĖ
Nasdaq
Since 2017 Arminta serves as a Vice President of European Markets at Nasdaq, responsible for the Post Trade business unit in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Iceland, and Sweden. She chairs the Supervisory Boards of several regulated entities, including Nasdaq CSD SE, Nasdaq Vilnius AB, Nasdaq Tallinn AS, Nasdaq Riga AS, as well as the BMR Oversight Committee under Nasdaq Copenhagen. In addition, Arminta is the General Manager of Nasdaq Vilnius Services. During her career, she was the President of the Vilnius Stock Exchange. For 15 years, she has been actively engaged in NGO work and pro bono counseling to the public sector with the aim of advancing the economic and societal development in Lithuania and the rest of the Baltic region, recognized with international and national awards for this work.

Vilius Bernatonis is the Managing Partner at TGS Baltic. He has more than 20 years of practice providing legal services in the areas of banking and finance, energy, international judicial dispute, corporate and commercial law. Vilius works with major local and international banks and provides consultations to companies of strategic importance on financial matters. He regularly participates in conferences as a speaker or moderator on topics of finance, the economy and banking.
